ENGLISH PARTNERSHIPS MASTERPLAN (shown in purple)

English Partnerships is the national regeneration agency helping the government to support high quality, sustainable growth in England. Since purchasing the 300 acre site on Greenwich Peninsula in 1997, the agency has spent over £225m on remediation, landscaping, infrastructure and master planning. Working closely with public and private sector partners, English Partnerships are helping to create a vibrant new urban quarter for London by enhancing the transport network and creating new homes, commercial space and community facilities in a riverside setting. This zone has seen major redevelopment including the O2, the North Greenwich Transport Interchange, the Millennium Village, a new food store, two non-food retail superstores, a Post Office depot, an hotel, a multiplex cinema, two new parks, a new yacht club and the Riverside Walk and Cycleway.

GREENWICH MILLENNIUM VILLAGE

Greenwich Peninsula is also home to Greenwich Millennium Village (GMV), one of seven Millennium Communities being delivered by English Partnerships across the country. GMV features mixed-tenure homes, good transport links, access to parkland and local services, such as a primary school and health centre, all of which make the community sustainable.

DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Greenwich Peninsula is being developed by Lend Lease and Quintain Estates and Development PLC in joint venture as Meridian Delta Limited, chosen by English Partnerships and the UK government to lead London’s single largest regeneration scheme.


MASTER PLAN AND DISTRICTS

Greenwich Peninsula is 190 acres of exciting opportunity with 1.6 miles of river frontage, equivalent to the distance from Waterloo to London Bridge. £100 million will be invested to create a real community with new schools, health and childcare facilities, and 48 acres of carefully designed green space and parkland. The key statistics are:

  • 10,000 homes, including 3,800 for key workers
  • 29,000 jobs, including 5,000 during the construction phase
  • 3.5 million square feet of office space- a brand new business district for London
  • 150+ shops and restaurants
  • 363,000 square feet of retail space

NORTHERN RIVERSIDE & THE VICTORIA DEEP WATER TERMINAL (shown in yellow)
Dominated by the aggregates industry this zone is influenced by the proximity to North Greenwich Station and the O2. Aside from Victoria Deep Water Terminal, it contains one other safeguarded wharf at Blackwall (Delta) Wharf.

INDUSTRIAL ZONE (shown in grey)
The zone contains industries including manufacturing and primary processing such as aggregates and chemicals.

RIVERSIDE SITES (Shown in red)
These comprise Lovell’s, Granite and Piper’s Wharves and sites adjacent to the northern end of Banning Street. Of the wharves, Lovell’s and Granite are safeguarded, although their current uses are not river related.

SOUTHERN NEIGHBOURHOOD (Shown in light red)
Predominately residential in character with some employment adjacent to the river. This area is the location for the majority of the established community facilities.
